White iPhone4 - It Lives!!!!!!

The white iPhone4 is now complete. I like it since it makes the whole phone look so different. Suppose it could do with a white front camera surround but it isn't bad. I still need to test it since there can be problems with the proximity sensor with the white front, since the window for the infra-red light to shine through is different. Anyway, I like it and I hope you do too.

White iPhone4 - We have the technology to build it!!!

I have just ordered the parts to build a white iPhone4 which isn't currently available from Apple. I have a white digitiser as shown but I haven't yet got the white home button, headphone socket, dock connector and back. I have just ordered these from my supplier and hope to have them later next week. If there is any demand for this, I can supply and fit the parts for about £200, maybe less if I can have your old black parts and they are in good condition.

Other news for this busy week, I have just repaired an iPhone4 which was badly water damaged. It needed circuit board cleaning work under the microscope, plus a complete disassembly and dry out and a new front screen. The customer was very happy with the result since it saved him alot of money. It goes to show that, if you water damage a phone and you get it to me within a day, I might be able to salvage it.

iPhone 4 Repairs Increasing

It has been a bit of an iPhone 4 week. I am getting more requests to repair them now so I will need to buy some more spares. iPhone 2G repairs have now completely dried up with the core repairs in the iPhone 3G and 3GS range. It's amazing how things change so quickly. Other areas where repairs are increasing are iPod Touch 2G and 3Gs. I am still waiting for my first iPad repair but sure that isn't far away and I have the tools.

I get plenty of Blackberry repairs and they seem to come in batches. A weak point seems to be with the keypads - the keys stop functioning after a time and I usually find oxide build up on the membrane switches or water damage. Since a keyboard is so critical, customers are very happy when I fix them.

Connector 4 Fix

I have another fix to test my skill where my microscope will once again help me. You can see from the photo that Connector 4 has been damaged. This will require complete replacement since the home button and USB won't work in its current state. I am confident of a fix..........and a couple of hours later, hey presto the phone now has a working USB and Home button plus all the other functions appear to work. I am very happy for the customer and he is too!!!

A Weekly Mixed Bag of Fixes

iPhone4 Drop Damage

This last week has been a mixed bag of fixes. I did an iPhone4 with a cracked screen. This was difficult since it had landed on the frame which had bent it. Really, it needed a new chassis but the customer wasn't too bothered so I did some careful bending to make it as good as possible. I also had an iPhone 3G which needed recasing, rescreening and the SIM tray was also damaged. I therefore had to solder a new SIM tray in which is always a bit of a challenge.

Finally, apart from the usual iPhone 3G, 3GS and iPod Touch smashed screens, I had a Nokia 8800 which was covered in WD40. This was very hard to mop up so I did my best to get it back to pristine condition. All it needs now is a new screen since you can see a pool of WD40 in the backlight. It took quite a time to get rid of that WD40 smell, I can tell you!!!!!!!
