iPhone5 is coming!!!
I have placed my order for iPhone5 since I need to learn disassembly for the business. Nothing major really with its features and annoying they have gone to the lightning dock connector rendering all of my nice peripherals obsolete overnight. Anyway, I am hoping it is nice and fast with that A6 processor and hope the signal is better than my 4S.

iPad3
Hello. After a short break, the blog resumes. Ever wondered why iPad3 is so heavy? Well, here we see the inside an iPad3 as I fix a smashed screen and you can see it is mainly battery, in fact very little circuit board. I think battery technology needs to move on a bit to power these devices.

Bose SoundLink is Amazing!!!
I thought I would let all you Apple lovers know that this piece of kit is amazing. It connects via Bluetooth to all your Apple devices and it provides excellent sound quality (nice deep bass). Yes it is expensive at £250 but you are buying an amazing piece of kit. I have had it connected to iPhone, iPad and MacBook Air and it is truly wonderful. Buy it if you want a decent wireless speaker. Love streaming Internet music from the 80s and 90s from Absolute Radio!!! Yes, that is my era after all :-)

iPhone 3GS Battery Issues
Now that the iPhone 3GS is a few years old, I have seen several cases of the batteries breaking down, gassing and ballooning. This results in a badly broken, bulged case and a bent circuit board. Usually, this is all fixable as I have fixed several of these. I guess Apple never thought this would happen.

MacBook Pro Vintage
Here is a MacBook Pro which is only 4 years old. Understandably, Apple won't deal with it because it is far too old (I understand how their sales' strategy works). A shame since this cost about £1200 and all that was wrong was a duff screen. Anyway, £100 later and I had fitted it with a new LG LCD screen and it is as good as new. One happy customer. Sure this isn't the last one I will fix.

Whiteley New Shops
Whilst this isn't really phone related, I am very happy that Whiteley New Shops are being built as we speak. This will enable my customers to go shopping in Marks and Spencer, Next, Boots etc whilst I fix their phones. I am even writing a blog on it at http://www.whiteleynewshops.blogspot.com

iPhone Light-up Apple Logo
Yes, I have bought the kit and done it!!! Not an easy mod and I opted for soldering to the circuit board. The back is quite thin so bulges slightly but overall, a cool mod. Certainly not a mod for the faint hearted since you can easily ruin the phone. Basically, the Apple logo lights when you press the power button, home button etc and lights up when called or calling. Apple should do it (and charge loads for it) but I doubt they will.

Blackberry Torch Repair
Here is one of the newer Blackberry phones - the Torch. This one was badly damaged with both LCD and digitiser smashed. But it is all fixable which is the main thing. I have also just seen and iPhone4 which was left on a van roof. It lasted up to about 60mph before the Bluetooth connection was lost and it bounced down the carriageway . It looked terminal, but no! The iPhone4 lived again with a new screen. It is amazing how resilient they are.

A recap on recent work
So what have I been fixing, apart from iPhones? Well, plenty of Blackberry devices (some with software issues), a Canon SLR camera which had a faulty internal power supply, a MacBook which had a smashed glass screen, an iTouch 4 which bizarrely had the headphone jack connector fall off the circuit board.....it goes on. Plenty of water damaged phones still come in as do plenty of smashed screens, a few a result of New Year celebrations. What is my New Year's Resolution?
To make the business even more successful and help as many people as I can!!!
